Acupressure @ The Lyttle Difference
Acupressure is is the art of stimulating acu-points with your finger or object (usually a wooden wand or a magnet). A westernised version of this modality is known as Trigger point Therapy.
In chinese medicine there are meridians running through your body (like a freeway taking traffic to and from the CBD), sometimes for some reason there is a break down or traffic jam, this can and will reduce the flow of energy around the city (your body) at the site of the blockage will cause pain.
As we rub and stimulate the point it will reduce the blockage and the flow of energy known as ‘Qi’ (pronounced chi) should get back to normal.
Like a blockage on the free way you can feel the tension all along the freeway from the on ramp to the site if incidence, this is know as a referral of pain. You will often feel a sensation along or at another point of your body whilst your therapist is stimulating the acu-point. This is good.
The only major difference between acupuncture and acupressure is that as we are not using needles and only have two hands it’s a little slower to stimulate all the necessary point. If you don’t like needles this can be a viable option but in actual fact the pressure from our thumbs hurt more then the point of a needle.
Both can effectively reduce pain and improve your state of being in your quest for healthy aging.
That is our number one focus here at The Lyttle Difference.
